It dawned upon me over the weekend that the actual anniversary of the show is today. It was three years ago tonight when myself, Neil, and James sat in a classroom in the Bethune building at York University, across from the school’s anime club hosting their weekly screening, and started to talk about stuff going on in the anime world, with our Canadian sense.

I’ll say a little bit more about it this later this week. But I thought I’d regard it since it is today. Needless to say though, I am happy to have gotten to three years. Some say it’s been a waste of time, others say it’s been AN INCREDIBLE waste of time. Thank you to everyone for listening and wasting some of that time with us.

On that note, we’re actually leaning against doing an episode this week. However I may have a surprise for everyone by the end of the week for your listening pleasure or otherwise.

And another long hiatus.  Nothing like the lazy and hazy days of summer.

Just wanted to tell everyone we’re still not dead and that the new season begins next week.  And as tradition goes, the first show of the season will have our thoughts on the Toronto conventions over the summer.

Also a quick heads up, we’ll be starting a new feature sometime before the new episode too.  Look forward to that.

*and I’ll be looking forward to another season of Neil and Adam…or should it be bracing myself for??

Hopefully this will be the final delay of more than four weeks between recordings of any sort.  There may be one more week long hiatus before the end of the year (for reasons which were hinted at in the last episode…a prize for the first person who knows what), but that should be it.  After that, we plan to be more consistent than we ever were.

I can’t wait, can you?

Ganbatte Angela!!

Best wishes to our own Angela Jordan as she left for her one year JET placement in Japan this past weekend. At last word she’s finishing up her orientation meetings in Tokyo and will finally go to her placement later today. Angela will still be contributing to the Roundtable. We’ll figure out the details sometime in the near future.

In case you’re wondering, Angela’s placement is in Koriyama City, in Fukushima Prefecture, north of Tokyo. This is very much the hub of the prefecture. Anime wise, its most famous resident is seiyuu Miki Nagasawa (EVA, Princess Nine, Vampire Princess Miyu)….Yeah I Wiki’d it.

If you want to know more click here for Koriyama City’s Official Website in English.

Also heads up podcast fans. We plan to finally tape our next episode with the next week. Of course it’ll be up not too long after. Mike, James are set to return with the Visser brothers. So the wait is almost over.

Please look forward to it.

Depending on which version you want to believe, Mike is either still recovering from a nagging illness he’s had the entire month of July…or Mike is still recovering from everything concerning episode 50.

Trust me, you can put up a good arguement for both.

In any event, lots has happened the last few months so hopefully we’ll have a new episode up in the next couple weeks.

Hey, we’re sort of enjoying summer…

And almost right on cue after taping the 50th episode with both Adam and Neil…I need a few days to both recover AND decide what to do with what was recorded. Because of that, the episode won’t come on for at least a few days. If you were at the actual recording of the episode at Anime North on Saturday night, you’ll know what I mean.

Anyway, I have to continue recovering…

Here are the details for our second year of shows at Canada’s biggest Anime convention.

We’ll be taping two episodes of the podcast live at Anime North on Friday and Saturday night at 11pm in the New York Room (aka Video Room 4) in the Doubletree Hotel. This will be part of the Late Night Programming. Check the Anime North website for the entire schedule.

The taping session is usually about 2 hours long because we’ll be fully setting up the studio from scratch, hopefully actually taping around 11:30 each time. But we hope you can drop on by right from 11pm, we’ll be having a few giveaways and surprises as things go from start to finish.  Just so you know, the best parts are always likely to happen when the tape recorder is off.

If you miss the tapings don’t worry, we’ll be putting up each episode before 6am the following morning. Consider it a good way to wake up before each day of the con.

And to answer the question now, Neil and Adam are set to do the Saturday episode together…..consider that your warning in advance.

We hope you can join me and the rest of the crew for a fun evening of anime talk and con news as it happens. Or at least come out and actually put a face to the voices you regularly hear on the show. See you on Friday Night!!

Update: Since a few of you have asked. We should let you know who’s set to do which episode. Mike and James will be doing both episodes. Mohamed and Angela will join us on Friday, and Neil and Adam as mentioned will be on tap for Saturday. Now to cover my ass I’ll also add these are subject to change. There may be a few surprises in store.

If you’re in Ontario and can get OMNI2 tune in at 11pm tonight for a documentary that was partly taped at Anime North a few years ago. Animania had its broadcast premier a few months ago in Japanese, but the english version is set to premier tonight.

Yup, it’s about anime culture in North America. It was created with a fund provided by OMNI (which is a Rogers owned station).

Here’s the press release on Anime News Network.

Here’s the documentary’s website.

And here’s the producer’s website.

Whether or not the documentary is actually good may be another discussion (I don’t know myself so I’ll be tuning in). Hopefully though, it’ll be worth a conversation.

I am putting the finishing touches on episode #47 tonight and hopefully it’ll be up just after the documentary airs.

So now you have a few things to look forward to tonight.
